Child and Parent Centre – Calista

Open to all families in the local community.

The Child and Parent Centre has continued to work collaboratively with Medina Primary School over the past 12 months. We have participated in school events where we can share information and promote the activities we offer. In addition to this we link people in with local services and agencies that are available to support families with raising their children. We are particularly keen to engage with families with children prior to them commencing school 0-4 years. We have attended events such as the three way conversation, pop-up kindy information mornings, provided books to be distributed to the incoming kindergarten children and the coordinator represents community on the school board.

In addition to us visiting your school, families can also attend the centre. Your local Child and Parent Centre is located at Calista Primary School, it is there to help you give your children the best start in life. The centre offers workshops, programs and services that support families with children up to eight years of age, helping them to develop and learn during their early years. The centre has family-friendly facilities, is welcoming, easy to access and a place to meet other local families. Activities and services include:

  • Regular groups – Rhymetime, storytime, Parenting & Play Time, MyTime Support Group and Dads & Children Playgroup.
  • Parenting workshops – topics include children?s behaviour, sleep, food, speech and language and first aid.
  • Child Health Nurse, Immunisation and Speech and Language appointment based services.

The Child and Parent Centre is a state government initiative and supported by the Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood. Ngala is the non-government agency coordinating the Child and Parent Centre in Kwinana.
